A note on Cauchy completeness for preorders

In this paper, we study the notion of Cauchy-complete preorder in a regular category, following work in [CS86], introducing the logic of a regular category. We give a different, stronger characterization than in loc.cit. for those preorders. Using this, we provide a new construction of the Cauchy-completion in a exact category. AMS Classification: 18A40, 03G30.

A Note on Transitivity, Completeness and Suzumura Consistency

What is required of the agent who makes her choices on the basis of her preferences? What can be inferred about an agent’s preferences from the choices she makes? In considering these questions, it is worth distinguishing between the choices that are permissable given her preferences, those that are mandatory and those that she actually makes. Rationality does not generally require that agents ...

A note on market completeness with American put options

We consider a non necessarily complete financial market with one bond and one risky asset, whose price process is modelled by a suitably integrable, strictly positive, càdlàg process S over [0, T ]. Every option price is defined as the conditional expectation under a given equivalent (true) martingale measure P, the same for all options. We show that every positive contingent claim on S can be ...

A note on I-completeness of NP-witnessing relations

In this note, we study under which conditions various sets (even easy ones) can be associated with a witnessing relation that is #P complete. We show a sufficient condition for an NP set to have such a relation. This condition applies also to many NP-complete sets, as well as to many sets in P .

A Note on Assumption-Completeness in Modal Logic

The literature on the epistemic foundations of game theory uses a variety of mathematical models to formalise talk about the players’ beliefs about the game, beliefs about the rationality of the other players, beliefs about the beliefs of the other players, beliefs about the beliefs about the beliefs of the other players, and so on (see [Bra07] for a recent survey). Examples include Harsanyi’s ...
